Battle on the Boards

A large squad of ESV Manchester sprinters headed south to the Geraint Thomas Velodrome in Newport for the inaugural Battle on the Boards event run by PDQ Cycle Coaching covering both sprint and endurance, the sprint event being Round 5 of the National Track Sprinters League.

Things kicked off in style in the flying 200 sprint qualifiers, the results of which are used to seed the riders for the match sprints.

Our first podium arrived in the first race of the day with Ben Wood getting bronze in a storming Para Cat 1-3 40-lap scratch race. It was fast from the start with multiple breakaways and ended for Ben in a sprint finish where he was just pipped to the post.
